Tilapia and Chips: Boracay's Hot Ribs Place

There's a very good restaurant in Boracay  located at the Mall's entrance near the main road named Tilapia and Chips.  It specializes in fish and chips and baby back ribs.  But according the owner, their best seller is the baby back ribs.  The place is clean, and service, warm and friendly!

I tried the half slab order of their baby back ribs which is priced at a reasonable P460 (US$11.00) and this comes with a glass of iced tea, french fries and salad. The ribs is sweet tasting and is good except that even if the meat is tender it is a bit dry.  The baby back ribs at Texas Joe House of Ribs in Subic is better since their ribs are really  tender and juicy.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed this meal and next time I go to Boracay would most likely eat here again and try their other specialty, the tilapia and chips.

Boracay in June

Boracay is so much prettier in June. At this time of the year the beach and the sea is clean. And the color of the ocean in varying shades of blue is awesome! This is also the month when you can experience a quieter and less crowded Boracay.

Of course, there is the risk of heavy rains because it is the onset of the rainy season. But rains or no rains, Boracay remains a real paradise in June!

Sail on Boracay

It used to be that boats were allowed to "park" anywhere along the shoreline of Boracay. That it got to a point that this beautiful beach became one large parking area for local outrigger and motorized boats posing great risks to safety of Boracay tourists.

Thankfully through the efforts of the local government and the Department of Tourism boats are no longer allowed to go into the main beach of Boracay but have been provided with a jetty specifically for the purpose of embarkation and disembarkation of tourists. This was despite the strong protests of misguided resort owners and tourists. The beach is now earmarked for the use and enjoyment of the growing number of Boracay visitors.

The only boats now allowed to park but only in a specified area of the beach and to sail on the shoreline on late afternoons are the local sail boats called "Paraw". Watching Boracay sunsets therefore has become more enjoyable with Paraws sailing in the horizon as the sun sets in the beautiful Boracay coastline.

Sunsets at Boracay

Boracay continues to be the Philippines top beach destination. Deservedly so because of its really fine white sand beach and clean waters (except during the summer season). For people who like the good life, there are plenty of good restaurants and an active night life.

But for me the main attraction is still the beautiful beach and an added bonus to this is the glorious sunset of Boracay. Watching the sunset by the beach is calming. Another way is to take a Paraw ( local sail boats) and watch this early evening event from a boat. The latter has increasingly become popular.
